Wicked Lasers Pulsar And Fusion Quick Review Impressions

Wicked Lasers

Not sure if you noticed, but the guys over at Wicked Lasers are on a mega advertising spree across the Interweb right now. Almost everywhere I look - including our own AdSense ads - I am seeing Wicked Lasers. Recently, we hooked up with them and got our hands on a couple of their lasers. We wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Turns out, these things are, um, wicked cool. We shot some video of us playing with the lasers, which will be featured in an upcoming episode of The Bleeding Edge. For now, know that we were able to successfully burn letters into plastic bags by using the lasers to melt the plastic, and that is just the beginning of some of the fun we had with these things.

The two lasers we have in our possession are the 100mW red colored Pulsar, along with the 125mW green Fusion. Believe it or not, the green laser can go 50 miles. We have a bunch more images of these two products, which you can check out after the jump.

These lasers are frickin’ sick!!!. My friend got the green one, and its like crazy cool. So u can burn plastic with these?? Wouldnt doubt it actually.

Posted by nabilanwar on February 28, 2006 at 09:38 PM | #

Yeah these are damn cool. I don’t have a “wicked laser” but do have a green laser I got a few years back that is pretty damn cool. Green is way brighter than the red lasers and just looks cooler.

But these wicked lasers are powerful and actually dangerous so don’t think of them as toys. They can burn dark (black) plastic such as electrical tape and you can only imagine what they can do to your eyes if you shine it at yourself, or others.

They are pretty expensive as well which is probably a good thing...hopefully it will keep them out of the hands of kids and such heheh.

Very cool but not toys wink

Uhhh, anyone ordering these should beware that their products are illegal to own in the United States. This letter from the FDA states that Wicked Lasers are illegal and if you import them you can be fined up to $1000 per laser. Yikes!

Where’s the fun in complying to laws? grin

Posted by nabilanwar on March 01, 2006 at 12:55 PM | #

DO NOT BUY A WICKED LASER!! I ordered one three weeks ago and ignored all the legal crap because they guaranteed delivery and their site says if it\’s delayed by customs they\’ll refund your money, ship you a laser and give you another $100 just for your trouble.

Well, my laser got seized by customs. When I emailed \"Nexus\" - the owner - about it, he asked if I could pay another $50 to have them ship me another! I got no refund and no $100. They ASKED ME TO PAY MORE!

I told them that wouldn\’t fly because that wasn\’t the deal. I posted this info to their message board, but my message was DELETED and I am now banned from viewing their site.

These guys are scam artists. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE THIEVES!!!

Posted by Darren on March 01, 2006 at 01:02 PM | #

Uhh how did Gear Live get them the lasers if they get seized? Jellyfish is a known spammer from competitor laser sites just check candlepowerforums.com under lasers. As for Darren aka jellyfish, nice try, there are over 2500 registered users on forum.wickedlasers.com, and not a single one of them has ever had a package “seized” and be “banned” like you have described.

That’s definately not a 125mW Wicked Laser Fusion. The red dot is clearly brighter than the green. Green should be brighter since 532nm is closer to 555nm which is what our eyes see best. Red from Wicked Lasers is 650nm. To me, it looks like a 15mW. There’s no beam, and it’s on a white wall. A big dot and a clearly seen beam should be showing. I don’t know if they gave you the wrong one, or the creater of this topic is lying, but it sure isn’t a 125mW. Check the wicked lasers gallery for pictures of a 125mW and better pictures of the Pulsar.

Hey John - are you in China? Are you associated with Wicked Lasers? Why do you never answer your phone? Why do you not answer my emails? Why did I have to go through PayPal to get my money back from you? Is your name really John? I haven’t met many Chinese guys named John. Why are you accusing me of being someone else (I’m not) instead of addressing the actual issue, which is you trying to steal my money?

I really don’t care if your stuff is illegal. It’s a dumb law. I’m glad 99.99% of your packages are smuggled into the US successfully. But when that one gets seized by customs, the LEAST you could do is give me a refund and be frickin nice about it, instead of trying to run off with my money and ignore your promise.

Posted by Darren on March 06, 2006 at 06:20 PM | #

Wicked Lasers are illegal if only sold in USA. Meaning they’re made and shipped out IN USA. Coming from other countries is fine. Exactly why steve moved from USA to shanghai a few years back.

Ken, if that were true my laser would not have been confiscated and the FDA wouldn’t have the import ban order on WL, and they wouldn’t have issued that warning letter. WL is illegal, plain and simple. Dumb law, yes, and you’re unlikely to get caught. I ignored the law, got my laser confiscated and WL refused to give my money back or ship a new one without further payment from me.

They LIED. They CHEATED. They STOLE.

Posted by Darren on March 07, 2006 at 01:09 PM | #

Sucks for you. I got stopped by a cop last week shining my laser across a street. It had no sticker and it’s rated for 5mW but it’s modded to about ~30mW. They gave it right back after the cops proceeded to shine it at planes and fellow cops that pulled up.

They aren’t illegal unless sold in USA. They aren’t illegal even if imported. Now...Wicked Lasers are illegal if you shine them into airspace, or out of your own private property.

Update: wicked@wickedlasers.com has finally replied to my message, though only to curse at me for posting on this forum. He seems to think I’m a loser for not being able to afford paying for a laser I did not receive.

GREEEEEAAAAAT customer service, and a classy guy too! (yeah right)

If you don’t want to throw your money away, stay away from Wicked Lasers.

Posted by Darren on March 11, 2006 at 12:49 AM | #

You must be from CPF. Go die #######.

Posted by Ken Allen on March 11, 2006 at 04:37 PM | #

I’ve read CPF and the warnings there regarding Wicked Lasers, but decided to ignore them and buy one anyways. I should have listened.

What I’m saying is real. I had my laser confiscated and they refused to refund me. Why do you act like I’ve done something wrong? Seriously, all I did was order a laser and ask for my money back per their guarantee. Why do I deserve to die because of this?

Posted by Darren on March 11, 2006 at 11:15 PM | #

Wicked Lasers doesn’t refund money because you did some stupid things in which you got it coniscated. Wicked Lasers isn’t a survey company. It’s not to give you, let you throw it away, and in return get money for it.

Posted by Ken Allen on March 12, 2006 at 01:25 AM | #

Ken, I didn’t do anything stupid. I never even GOT the thing to begin with. It was confiscated before it was even delivered to me. I guess it was stupid of me to order in the first place. I hope others do not make the same mistake.

Posted by Darren on March 12, 2006 at 12:23 PM | #

i just recently purchased a pulsar, man that things incredible. unfortunatley my particular pulsar decided to slip in its case. i returned it and paypaled him an extra 60 bucks and within a week i had a phoenix which i must say is the most amazing laser i have seen. steve is great with customer service. even on the forums he has never said anything rude. darren, i really need to ask you to stop posting your Sh** here. ty

Hey these Laser are BAD!!! I have two of them and If you guys buy one use the add to basket button and put this promo code in: 4433
or Click here: http://wickedlasers.com/index.php?promo=4433 and then the code should already be added, this will save you 5% off on your laser.

Posted by Chris on June 03, 2006 at 09:49 AM | #

Yep I must agree with Darren, these people are scum.

Actually I think it’s run by a guy who calls himself “Steve” who is an American on the run (probably not for much longer I suspect!)

You might eventually get your laser but I had to contact the Chinese Embassy in Canberra to finally get mine. They advised me to make contact with the Ministry of Public Security in Shanghai who oversee Chinese Police. Wicked Lasers are based in Shaghai. They said they would (and did) also make contact with them.

After some smart arse emails from “Steve” I eventually did get the laser but be VERY careful dealing with these people, and always use Paypal or similar to ensure you have some comeback if they don’t actually ship your item.

We use these things for star talks in a really remote area of Australia, and safety is number one!

The most important thing I have to say is these lasers do not just require a little care in their use, they are EXTREMELY dangerous in terms of permanently blinding people/animals instantly. Do NOT allow your kid or friend to buy one unless they are always supervised by a responsible adult, because Wicked Lasers will sell them to anyone without any care whatsoever. Please?

Try www.dragonlasers.com Dunno who runs them but it can’t be worse than this Steve guy.

My class mate has bought one of their lasers and the guy just won’t shut up. I ought to buy a higher power and really show him hahahaha

Posted by schoolsux on November 13, 2006 at 11:28 AM | #

I am thinking about gettinga 150mw laser but dragaonlars are a rip off and i hear bad thinkgs about WL.  I wonder how much is true abit the illegalness of the lasers.....hhmmm

Posted by Richie on November 16, 2006 at 07:00 PM | #

I have delt with Wicked Lasers and they have been great.  I received my laser within 5 days and it is a quality laser.  I ll buy from them again no problem.  Dragon lasers is cheaper but I hear a lot of there stuff geting stopped at customs.  And quality is not as good in my opinion as WL.

Posted by Chris on January 13, 2007 at 08:21 PM | #

I don’t know what happened to ‘Darren’, but I have two wicked lasers and I love them. I keep a 15mw to show off and a 95mw to burn with.

I use the following link to save 5%, I would suggest you do the same.

Looks like people either love or hate wicked.

I don’t have an opinion, i just know their prices are more expensive than www.dragonlasers.com where i bought my last laser pointer, an awesome 125mW

Posted by luvlasers on January 24, 2007 at 09:26 AM | #

My dragon laser was really awesome and I got it measured in my uni, but the results were disappointing, 56.7mW was the peak output power, at Wicked Lasers, a 55mW laser is only 209.99$, looks like I got ripped along with others from dragon. You get what you pay for, I don’t think I will be buying any more lasers from any company in the near future.

The reading these comments is like a soap opera.  It is not just restricted to this review, check out

http://www.hiptechblog.com/2006/02/21/wicked-lasers-reviewed-and-with-video/

Luvlasers appears to be suffering from a split personality LOL

Passion over a hobby (or is it affiliate income) is admirable but is there such need for this pure nastiness???

Posted by Paul on January 30, 2007 at 11:00 AM | #

A a guy who did his doctorate working with lasers similar to this, is is downright irresponsible for anyone to sell these for “fun”. If you buy one if these it is highly likely that within weeks you or someone you know will suffer partial to permanent retinal damage. The must be Nd:YAG lasers, which are pulsed (probably 60Hz so you can’t notice), but these pulses are very very short so there is a high amount of energy in every one. When it hits you eye, you lens focuses it down to a tiny little spot. One pulse can literally ‘pop’ you retina and you will be blind. So for those of you who say ‘screw the law, lasers are cool” ....well, good luck with all of that.

Props to Wicked Lasers!  Found their site through Google and I ordered their low-end 15 mW on the night of Feb 5.  I’m an astronomy buff and have been wanting a green laser for a long time to help point out constellations to others.  Of course, AFTER I order it, I get on blogs (like this one) and started getting nervous about customs issues, etc.  On the afternoon of Feb 9, the thing’s on my doorstep!  AWESOME!  This laser is frickin’ cool.  I just took it to a cub scout meeting and EVERYONE (especially the dads) were totally blown away by it.  I cannot believe that I ordered this on Feb 5, and it ships from China and is on my doorstep in Texas less than 4 days later.  Happy customer!

Absolutely unbeleivable, got my 55mW Viper from Dragonlasers yesterday and the beam is so bright when i use it in my backyard.

Had no problems with customs but then my state is pretty liberal.

Posted by toyboy on February 24, 2007 at 09:49 AM | #

I have a laser from wickedlasers.com. I bought myself the one with the least power, and I still think it is GREAT. They are soooo bright. In the evening and at night, you can see the beam really well, even with this low power laser (<20mW). So the more powerful ones will be very very bright. You’ll be able to see the beam in daylight, light matches, pop balloons, burning things.

You can get a 5% discount by purchasing using this link:

I ordered the Wicked Laser Advanced (35mw).  I got it in 5 days with no problems.  The box was labeled “ink pen” so there is no way customs will ever catch it.  It is hands down the best quality laser I have ever bought.  It is damn powerful and I can see the beam plain as day.  I am saving for the Fusion next.  I highly recommend WL.

Posted by Mike on June 29, 2007 at 08:50 PM | #

Why all this fuss about Wicked.
There are a few companies which sell laserpointers up to 125mw and portable lasers above 200mw

Some of them are very good and often ship lasers with higher specs than advertised.

personally i don’t know if WL is good or bad but i DO know that their lasers are relatively expensive compared to other companies who sell the same type of lasers (or sometimes even better)

Their 55mw is the same price as my 100mw (119mw peak and 110mw average output measured and of course IR filtered)

Posted by Pas on September 05, 2007 at 04:33 AM | #

OMG! to people who say wl is bad, think again!
shipping took only 6 days from china!!
the fusion (125mw)is sooooooo cool!
and it slips thru customs with labels like ink pen or pen light. the beam is clearly visible through the day and at night you can stop a city.
buy from WL, theyre not evil like ppl r saying!

Posted by matt on November 27, 2007 at 10:25 AM | #

Yea, becuase really a company the produces High-Tech lasers sells to the goverment (photonic disrupter, one sweet ass beam only leagal for police officers and millitary to use be cuase of its beam) and has been all over the news is trying to scam you guys. Thats like calling Target scamers, so get a life.

Anyone else notice the argument between KEN, DARREN, and JOHN?

Well… don’t pay any attention, ive been reading a couple of reviews on wicked laser products and I’ve been seeing these fake little arguements around.

Im gonna guess all 3 of them are the same person

Posted by Spectator on December 16, 2007 at 04:02 PM | #

i want to get a powerfull 125mW laser but i have heard that you can just mod a 5mW. its supposed to work as well as an authentic 125mW. does anyone have any experiance with this stuff? plz and thnx

Posted by dallas on January 24, 2008 at 05:29 PM | #

Just ordered one last week, my package arrived today only to reveal that inside the package was the manual and the laser case, with no laser inside.  The invoice says its for a ballpoint pen and at a much lower price.  I now cannot access the website and only hope that I can get this laser.  So far I have a very negative view of wickedlasers.

Posted by Vigilante on January 28, 2008 at 12:56 PM | #

Hi, I live in Europe and want to buy a powerfull laser. I need some online shop that can ship to Europe also grin

Thanks
Anders

Posted by on May 10, 2008 at 02:42 PM | #

I live in Europe myself, Wickedlasers have been shipped to my house with no problem at all. Your lasers are shipped for $18.99, and there are no other import taxes of any kind, they also get passed customs very easily. I’ve been very happy with my laser pointer, and I would buy more from them.

PS: use this link for discount (5%), it’s not much, but better than nothing: http://www.wickedlasers.com/index.php?refer=16894
