Video: Michael Jackson Dies, A Look at His Lean Illusion

Related: Misc. TechMusic

Michael Jackson died today, and since I grew up with the man who many would argue is one of the greatest entertainers of all time, I thought we’d do a tribute to one of the cooler pieces of tech that played into his dance moves. If you remember the Smooth Criminal video, he did an amazing lean. We know the video used special effects to make that look as good as it did, but he also incorporated that lean into his live show.

In the video above, you see that Michael and his dancers have special shoes that seem to hook into the stage, allowing them to lean. Notice how one of his backup dancers gets his foot stuck and has to shake it loose afterwards.

We’ll miss you, Michael.

The passing of Michael Jackson is like a star being plucked from the sky. The sky becomes a little dimmer.

wow, I still just cant believe that he is Gone.  I never thought he would or could die so soon. he was Only 50.  Just 50.  I cant believe it.

He will be Forever Missed and its a shame that Our Next Generation wont be able to experience and know How Much Of a Great Music Artist He Truly was.

I remeber Listening to his music and Reading about him in magazienes when i was younger. im 16 now and i loved to listen to his music and watch him on TV doing music videos when i was around 10..

He will Deffinitly Be Forever missed, And Its so Sad that he has died and he Didnt get to do his Tour :(

Michael did not invent that. That has been in use in hollywood ...for years. Clowns have used them for skits. Also it is how the tin-man leaned in the Wizard of Oz.
