Flexicon

Some of us do daily crossword puzzles to ward off what may someday be Alzheimer’s (at least that’s what they tell us.) One day it is down, so we search to find it in another location. Instead we come up with the MS Live Search Club. Play 44.5 pseudo-crossword games (Flexicon) for 25 points (tickets) apiece and you can win a t-shirt. They also feature two other word games, Clink and Dingbat, which only yield 10 and 3 points respectively. The site was created to draw attention to Microsoft’s new Live Search, which is incredibly simple to use and should give Google and Yahoo a run for their money.

Director of Game Development/Creator Dan Ferguson told Gear Live that the site was only launched last week, but there are already dozens of games to play. I am already on my way to winning a free Zune with only about 700 games to go. If you can’t wait that long, you can receive a ring tone for only 105 tickets/points or a free music download after only 125.

(Thanks Dan)

Bastards. I spent days amassing 6000 tickets for a copy of Vista Ultimate, and lo and behold, they pulled it as a prize.  Thanks for wasting my time, Microsoft.

i spent a month doing these different puzzles reading facts, and everything for an xbox 360 for my son. I had 21,256 tickets. I woke up this morning, and all my tickets were gone, I didn’t even ordered anything, but yet all my tickets are gone. I’m am trying to find out what happen. If anyone knows email me at yami_sunny2@yahoo.com

How the hell do you amass tickets? At 25 a games, it takes forever to get anything!

Posted by DiRT on July 16, 2007 at 07:03 PM | #

Ming - I lost 23,620 tickets myself. Getting to the tech support section is such a pain in that web site, and I did post a message to that forum about it, and I wasn’t the only one. The url is

http://helpcommunity.live.com/en-us/CustomDomains/cdTechSupport/

We need to get word about this situation that they have created.

People were botting on the games so microsoft removed all points once they killed the botters.  Everyone started from scratch.

Posted by xopher on July 18, 2007 at 04:14 AM | #

99% of people complaining are just botters acting like they deserved something.

I am going ‘round and ‘round with these “Live Search Club Game” people.  They took my 9055 tickets and locked me out of the games.  I am a disabled 55 year old, who spends a lot of time on the computer, but didn’t know until yesterday (reading your site) what a “bot” was.  I certainly don’t know how to create one!  3 of my 4 children are attorneys.  This constitutes fraud and may also address other charges.  Is there anyone interested in joining a “no charge to you” class action suit?  I am insulted at the implication that I cheated my way to 9055 tickets.  There must be some human at MSN who can address this issue and provide relief.  They may be big, but we are many and bad publicity is a bitch.  Thanks for letting me vent.

MS has seriously created a gigantic fiasco and p!ssed off a lot of ordinary folks.  It’s not as if they were hugely popular before this either.  What makes it worse is they seem to be profiting from these botters who are donating “hits” to their search site to gain market share against Google. Definitely worth some lawyer’s time I’d say.

We spent hours of our time playing these games to win prizes. Our first prize we did recieve rather quickly (even tho it wasnt the same item listed or shown but a similar item). We then used the rest of our points to get 4 other prizes which we have yet to see and that has been over two months ago. All of the sudden there are NO more games to play. This has been a waste of our time. I did however save the reciepts for our order so we will se what happens.

hopefully the ppl from MS will send the prize or we all might have a great lawsuit on our hands.....
...then i can hopefully get my headphones…
im not kidding, i really do need headphones!!

I too spent alot of time on Live Search racking up points.  I’m disabled and was try to get enough points top get something nice for my sons wedding.  But Sunday when I tried to log in it was gone.  Yes I guess it was a ripoff.  I hope other people has better luck then the company.  I can’t afford to but the download games they keep trying to sell you.

Posted by ADAMOREVE on October 08, 2007 at 09:12 AM | #

I played the games daily and won several movie tickets, etc. Now, all of a sudden I can’t access the site. I had about 2500 points yet to cash in. Anyone got any ideas on what to do about this? Damned rip-off, I think. cardlady123@yahoo.com

there is a way around some of the problems.you just have to add a new user to your computer. the only problem is it only last a day or to.i know its not much help but its some thing.

Posted by H J on October 24, 2007 at 08:26 PM | #

To fix this problem delete your cookies.  It is in the options menu on IE or firefox.

Posted by Justin on October 26, 2007 at 10:12 AM | #

I just tried the deleting of the cookies and I also deleted browsing history and it worked! Good call

Posted by Robin on October 26, 2007 at 06:30 PM | #

I’m a bit dumb when it comes to technical stuff on the computer… how do I delete cookies on firefox?

Maybe we should all concentrate more on the price of the tickets.

dont bother with live search club anymore ppl. all thatll happen is u accumilate tickets and when u order things u get called a bot. i myself joined when it first came out. racked up 1k tickets to get some headphones. got the headphones 3 months later. no problem soo far all was cool. once i got the headphones my brain told me that the site was legit and to play it more. so i did. i have now ordered the wireless keyboard and a webcam. ordered the keyboard on the 4th of december and the webcam on the 8th.  live search club has NOT sent me a second confirmation email with the shipping info and such. so what does that tell me? that they r probably not gonna send me my stuff but instead call me a bot. doesnt seem fair does it? im gonna go to their customer support in a few days if i hear nothing back from them. but as i said before i can probably already guess what they r gonna say, even tho im one of their real legit players. oh well. i just want what i earned and should rightfully have.

DONT GET UR HOPES UP ABOUT GETTING THINGS FROM THAT SITE.

seems i was a little too hasty in my hatred for microsoft and accused them of not sending my prizes. well today i recieved 1 of the 4 things i ordered. i ordered the 2 webcams, a coffee mug, and wireless mouse and keyboard. today fedex delivered the lifecam vx6000 to me (but i cant seem to install it right). it was delivered 20 days after ordering. i ordered it on the 8th of decemeber and it got here today the 28th. thats fast. anyways heres hope and luck to all who have ordered stuff. i apologize to microsoft.

PLAY IT FOR ALL ITS WORTH WHILE IT LASTS

Live search club really makes me angry.  I spent hours every day trying to save up for a 25000 ticket prize.  When I got to 24000 tickets, they would not let me get any more.  They made me waste a lot of time, and they conveniently avoided having to send me a $200 prize.  Live Search, You suck Bad!

Heck yeah, I’m all for potential freebies. Thanks!

I ordered a Zune, estimated ship date 10/6/2007. Then a case for the Zune, estimated ship date 11/4/2007. Never saw a second confirmation email, never saw the products. After a few attempts to learn the status of the Zune, I was informed that the order had been canceled (and that orders are canceled when bots are detected or when the hardware or software product had previously been delivered). What, me bot? Heck no, but there’s no appeal mechanism. And my account shows I got the Zune and the case, so don’t ordering one again.

I figured they consulted with a team of the best carnies to design a scheme of superficially easy games that can’t actually be won.

But I continued and ordered a Samsung Widescreen DVD Camcorder, estimated ship date 4/14/2008. No second confirmation email and it arrived 2/28/2008.

I can’t explain it.

Posted by psource on February 28, 2008 at 09:54 PM | #

The case for the Zune arrived 3/10/2008.

got enought points to get a Zune back in November, 2007.  To do, I have not received it.  Finally got a reply to an email which says they are currently out of stock and they don’t know when they will get them it.  This is the biggest ripoff I have ever seen.  Don’t even try this one.

Posted by becky davis on April 24, 2008 at 03:23 PM | #

i cashed in my tickets for the camcorder.  Just wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to get the second confirmation.  It has been over 2 wks.  And i honestly did not cheat.  My order is still showing on my account.  Just wondering how long it takes to get second confirmation......Please help!!!!

i ordered the bluetooth keyboard on 2/12/2008 and arrived in 4/18/2008.  we’ll see if i get the dvd camcoder at the end of this month =D

I’ve never had a problem with earning tickets or redeeming and getting prizes. I have so far received a Zune player and Rock Band for XBox 360 among several other items and have given over 10,000 tickets to charity. Plus I currently have over 20,000 tickets left to redeeem. However, it looks like all that is listed on the site are airline miles (they have taken all other prizes off ?).  If you honestly haven’t cheated and are patient, then you should get the items you’ve “won”.

Wish you win a Zune!

Posted by on May 13, 2008 at 05:51 AM | #

It’s strange that they don’t feature Scrabble here. This word game seems to be the most popular one.

Posted by on May 13, 2008 at 11:24 PM | #

That Zune I ordered, estimated ship date 10/6/2007 ... arrived today. 30GB, “Academic Edition”, brown.

So everything I ordered has been delivered. In reverse order, but all received. The Zune, the Griffin Vizor case, and the Samsung DVD Camcorder (model SC-DC173U).
